For someone who loves food as much as I do, it was a real treat! Cups of tea, ginger beer, elderflower cordial, glasses of Pimm's and fabulous cucumber, mint and gin cocktails were drunk. Boiled quail eggs, delicious sausage rolls, cucumber sandwiches, strawberries and clotted cream biscuits, chocolate eclairs, lemon slices and a fabulous Victoria sponge cake made with duck eggs were all eaten (devoured would be a more suitable word here). It is not photographed here because yours truly was obviously too busy eating it but we also had an incredible custard cake made by one of the guests. It was so light and delicious I could have easily eaten tons of it.
C. had also made a most fantastic chocolate and sour cream bundt cake. I took a slice with me and ate it the next day (yes, there is only so much I can ingest in a single day... I am French indeed but I have my own limits). It was so beautiful and moist, the chocolate addict in me said 'bravo'!
Don't you just love having dinner parties with lovely people! For me, it is one of the best ways to have some good time with great friends. Sharing food and laughter, just perfect!
