Learning something new: pottery at Arran Street East

Pottery Workshop at Arran Street East in Dublin, Ireland.
For the past few years now, I have been wanting to learn a specific skill: how to make pottery. I kept delaying it to focus on other things and then eventually, I decided to add it to my goals list. Putting it down on paper made it more concrete to me.

The only thing about learning new skills such as pottery, which requires someone teaching and the appropriate equipment, I really was not sure where to start or where to go that would suit me. Then I heard about Arran Street East and their beautifully designed homewares. While admiring the various products on the website, I noticed there are workshops you can attend at the studio. I dutifully added it to my list as a place that would be perfect to learn pottery and started saving up for it.
And then, I just let a lot of time go by until a few months ago, a friend mentioned she was going to attend a three-day workshop at the Arran Street East studio. It was most certainly the motivation I needed so I went online and signed up too.

Goals Rather Than Resolutions - 2019 Edition
Hello 2019 and happy new year to you all!
I am back here after a bit of a break so I could make most of the time I had with family and friends over the holidays.
I also used that time to look over what 2018 has been. And while I am grateful to the people who helped make parts of it lovely (and better in some cases), I am really glad to say au revoir to it. I am welcoming 2019 with wide open arms, bring it on, let’s see what it is made of!

And like every year, I also looked at how my goals went. As I have mentioned here over the past two years, I am all about goals rather than resolutions. While a resolution to me has a sense of having to be absolutely done or else it is a big fail, a goal that you set feels more reachable. If it is not achieved by the 31st December, it is not the end of the world because it is a work in progress.

To be honest, in terms of not achieving goals by the end of the year, 2018 has been pretty much that for me.

Happy holidays 2018!

Dear readers,

Another year has passed and it is time for me to take a small break for the end of year festivities. A time I will spend enjoying lovely moments with family and friends, cooking delicious meals to share together, relaxing with good books and movies, walking in the fresh air and taking some deep breaths more importantly. Yes, because the many goals I had planned for 2018 did not become a reality so I want to start the new year properly and catch up on the many projects that got put aside along the way.

As always, I am really grateful to you for spending the time to read this little blog of mine with its many food, travel and everyday life adventures.
I will not be posting during the holidays but you can still find me sharing stories and vignettes of everyday life over on Instagram: ( @cremedecitron) until I am back here next year.

Wishing you all a wonderful time over the holidays and many lovely things for the New Year 2019!

Art mural in Fancy Free Nursery, Tampa, in Florida.
Bonjour and happy Saturday!
How was your week? Mine was spent with a box of tissues on one side and a mug of hot water with lemon and honey on the other. I declare the season of colds and soups officially on!
I still managed to get some work done though and repotted a few indoor plants (it was badly needed!). As usual, I also collected a few interesting things to share with you today.
Have a lovely weekend!

In my suitcase #6

Another trip abroad, another suitcase filled with the lovely things we brought back.
Traveling abroad is always the occasion to get a few things that will remind us of our trip after we are back home. Most times, they are edible things that will last a couple of weeks and sometimes it could be something such as a loaf of bread and fresh pastries from a local bakery picked up right before heading to the airport. Those are perfect to have the next day as a mini extension to our holiday time.

A trip to France is always the occasion to fill the suitcase with delicious things. I sometimes even get a variety of cheeses and charcuterie vacuum-packed but we skipped it on this occasion since we were staying at a hotel for the last bit of the trip. Here is a selection of what we brought back from la Belle France this time:

Irish Autumn Sunset
Bonjour and happy Saturday!
How was your week? Are you starting to settle into Autumn and its cosy weekends (or Spring and its warmer days suited for picnics and drinks in the sunshine if you are on the other side of the world)?
Just when I started to fluff my warm jumpers this week, warmer days made an appearance. I guess this is what we call Indian Summer, those unexpected warm days when the weather has been much cooler for the past two weeks. It is certainly dark much earlier in the evening too but with just enough light left for us to observe a little bat fluttering between our building and the trees this week (it's my first time spotting one in Dublin city!).

I have a few interesting things for you to read or listen to with your breakfast/brunch so here we are. Have a lovely weekend!
